Novation Remote LE USB problem with new macbook

The problem
The excellent Novation Remote LE 25 does not work with my brand new 2008 aluminum MacBook. The Novation website mentions power issues with "some of the newer mac's". The macbook will detect the Remote LE in midi settings, but when i open Live or Cubase no midi data is coming through.

Unwilling to accept this, i messed with the USB ports and the cable. USB power issues are commonly known to be fixed by using a wall powered USB hub. To my surprise a bus powered hub did also work.


The Solution

The solution is very simple; connect a USB hub (either wall-powered or bus-powered) I use a tiny BELKIN USB 2.0 lighted travel hub Network hub
